Hey! So far, the VN is amazing :3 I like that you chose to center the story around Norse Mythology and I think the characters are very charming.
If I had to say a flaw, I think Geirolf should have more sprites with more expressions, because I reached the part when the protagonist and him go to a dinner and the change of personality is barely noticeable in the character's sprites.
Hi, thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far~
Yeah, all of the boys are lacking in poses, we got a basic pose for each of them done for the rework so we could save on time and focus on the rest of the VN rework. More poses and expressions are next up on the list though, so stay tuned!
Do i have to start over? I just updated the game and my save files keep popping up a error? I really don't want to start sll over again, i understand theres new sprites and i might have to but is there any possibility of not restarting? Getting to the to be continued and updating just to restart seems annoying but if i need to then i dont mind! Love your game regardless
Hey, if you're saving on the To Be Continued, it's likely why this crash is happening. That screen is removed when the updates release. As long as your saves have been from the new version (starting with 1.9.1) all along they should still work, just save on a text box or two before the TBC. Meanwhile, you can also try the chapter select and see if it lets you select the current day, and skip (should skip read text) til end of day!
Yes, as soon as the next CG is finished and I get time to add it in :3 I will be out of the state for next week so it will come (hopefully) just after that!
I like some changes in the interactions between the mc and the Wolves. I also like the story that we didn't get to know before this update. And MAN Arkyn looks perfect.
Thanks for the praise! I'm happy so many people are taking to the new stuff really well. I hate that I couldn't just flip out the whole rework all at once cause of time constraints so seeing people are enjoying what's been added is really motivating ^///^
Changing sprites normally doesn't work, as most folk form connections to the originals, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I absolutely adore the new look! π Gosh, how is it possible for Arkyn to have become even cuter~? βΊοΈ
I love how much more streamline the story has become by simply changing a few things and adding some extra parts π I really like how smooth all these transitions between scenes is
I also think it was a brilliant idea, at least from a writer's perspective, to allow us time with each boy instead of choosing between them so soon π I mean, I know we'll have to make that choice down the line (with the promise of cuddlesπ) but this is really nice π
And also... Nekkid wolves π hulking, furry, muscular, nekkid wolves running around!? π³ [Screams in fanboy]
Hey! Thanks for the feedback and praise ^///^ Fortunately, Wayfinder is not like the other girls, you're never locked in to a choice for your wolfboi! You'll get a day (or two in some cases) after making a choice, the story paths will diverge to the different scenes, and then converge to the main story path again until the next choice.
Choosing Arkyn won't lock you in to his story content permanently for the playthrough, or you could choose him every time he's available! Entirely up to you!
Ooo, that's nice to hear! π I always feel a bit sorry for the other guys when they're ignored, so that's another good choice π but I guess even that won't stop me from keeping to a specific boy under each save file π love what xou're doing~ βΊοΈ
It has been the plan since Tehngo onboarded to incorporate my rewrites with his sprites, yes. This has the first three days with new scenes in the main story and two bonus scenes in a side story, all with the new sprites.
The next update in a week for Patrons and about 2 weeks and a half for the public will have Day 4, then roughly a three week to a month wait for Day 5, at which point I'll be able to do Day 6 (the day the reader chooses their first wolfboi adventure partner) and add on all of Act 2 and the new chapter all at once.
In other words, a few more updates til the continuation, but I heavily suggest reading through this as there is still a lot of new content.
Man, sad to see the old sprites gone after leaving the VN to get new content for awhile before playing again. The other 3 are all nice, but I'm not a fan of how comically large Biorn is now, used to love him being a tall built guy but now he's a little...*too* bara.
Yup! Unfortunately because of scale the screen can't always show their full sizes... !!!But!!!! Here they all are! Keep in mind Bjame is standing with his legs apart and not his full height! (If I make him higher in game he'd clip out the screen)
Maybe eventually if you are able to make CGs of the characters, that can help give people a good idea of how large the characters are. I really like Biorn's brother flirty personality.
So first things first, I can not state how much this Vn was enjoyable to read. The main protagonist is well-written and has a catchy identity. For now, the three love interests we can interact with are interesting, each has a level of depth I wasn't expecting.
For me the Pro's are
Great Story
The Old Sprites (Though I do enjoy the new ones, the old ones grew on me)
Well Writen Protaginist
The only Con for me is:
There is a lack of updates on the communication front. Not that I hold any negativity or hate just a little let down. I got done playing through version 1.8.2 and was incredibly overtaken by wanting to read on. Going to Patreon and giving a pledge to get early access to version 1.9 and it left me feeling stunned. Though I will admit half of this is my fault for not reading posting time stamps. Since the last update on Patreon was in August. Even headed to the discord after to check about development progress only to see that the discord was also rather lacking in information as well.
Over all this is a great Visual Novel with a lot going for it. However, that being said it does feel like it's almost been abandoned. I do hope that the people working on this know what is there is amazing. Just wish there was more communication about the status of the project. With all this being said, I would highly recommend a read-through of the public version (1.8.2).
Sorry about the lack of communication, I've been working on a devlog to post but I guess I'll reply to this with what I was going to write there, and make a separate post later (work day >///<)
Rest assured this project isn't abandoned, the Patreon update is coming soon and (as posted in the Discord before) anyone who has donated since before the rewrites has been promised (and will receive) the update in their Patreon DMs! I had meant to make a dedicated post on Patreon to reflect this, but I actually just plum forgot to, which is my bad! I'm sorry for that! I will absolutely make it a priority to try to keep people updated on these things.
That said, the new Patron update has a new main theme song (composed by Camazule for Wayfinder, with potentially another song coming in the public update), a new CG with 20 variants of lighting and pose (and Tehngo is going to be working on another, 3-image CG for this same day), a bonus scene and the entirety of the next in-game day featuring the first hangout with Arkyn!
All told, after a few weeks for Patrons, the update that goes public is going to be the first three in-game days with the rewrites, two bonus scenes, all new sprites for the characters, and any CGs and new songs we're able to finish. I plan on releasing the next Patron update within a few weeks of this upcoming one, as that's entirely written and I just need to (struggle to) code it (and hopefully get the CGs for that day in as well)!
Thank you for your patience, apologies again for the lack of communication!
Honestly, the reply is something I never expected however I am delighted to see and hear what's in store for the future of Wayfinder.
I hope the production of these updates goes smoothly, that you take the time needed to enjoy making the Visual Novel, and that the Visual Novel turns out better than before.
Thank you for the response back, the communication is 100% appreciated.
Is everything ok you said you would update it a month after 1.8.2 in the first week but the first week is about to end and you said that specifically about the public build.
This is just a comment so I doubt most will see it but I'm actually grateful a lot of people have been supporting Wayfinder. I got to see it begin and I couldn't be any more glad that Lavan has been receiving support from that point onwards.
Wayfinder was one of my first serious projects and I find many flaws with what I did back then, as an artist. Life took over at some point and I faded out of this, but it's awesome to see Tehngo is absolutely thriving on this project as I always looked up to them and their artistic skills. Much love right there β€οΈ
I want to see Wayfinder flourish exponentially from here on out. Lavan is a fantastic storyteller and he's working with amazing people to provide the folks what they need!
Just felt like leaving a sappy note, after so long.
I maybe a bit late but with the new sprites they just look too clean. By this i mean, compared to the old ones, the new ones look like the have skin instead of fur especially when looking at the feet, hands and muzzle, Arkyn's muzzle does have some. Not sure if this was intended but since you paid over 1k it should at least look better. Also I'd suggest working on one route at a time instead of 4 as that would make things extremely slow, I know there's no "definitive route" but focusing on 1 at a time tendbto make thing progress at an adequate time. There's been an alarming amount of VN that the creator either took too long or went in over their heads and either lost interest or lost support and this vn has some incredibly unique story and I'd hate it to get dropped
I wanted the characters to look less painted and more cartoon/stylized. It's just easier on the eyes for a lot of people as the old sprites gave a lot of people an uncanny feeling.
As for the route thing, I'm not sure how else to explain it. This isn't adding more work to creating Wayfinder, it was always going to have this content and the story is naturally going to take the reader through the same path regardless.
If anything I made the story more streamlined by pulling the early options and making it one straightforward path until after the memorial scene, and the new love interest (not really new, just not revealed til now) pops up during the story in scenes that were already being made. Even the couple of times where the reader splits off with him were already planned as part of the story as a whole, you can't opt out of them as they are integral to the plot.
The only real way to summarize is just wait and see, it might make more sense after 2.0 releases later this month/early october.
At the risk of sounding like a hater, you should update your Visual novel regularly before adding a 4th route. Because with 3 characters, the updates were slow in coming, so with an extra guy...oof
Before the sprite reworks that Tehngo did and the opening rework (which I'm working on now), updates were roughly every 2.5 months and included content for all split paths each time which, all told, each amounted to almost twice the total story content of my biggest chapter (which was a converged chapter before any split paths). That's only a little slower than updating monthly.
As for the concern of adding a route, Wayfinder doesn't have 'routes' in the traditional sense. The story is going to diverge and converge multiple times, and the reader isn't locked in to being with one character just because they went with that character first. Next time the story diverges into paths, the reader can choose a different wolfboi if they want. The story is still progressing the same regardless, and this new love interest has actually been planned from the beginning!
This love interest is going to be available in addition to, and not instead of, the other characters Fynn can choose to be with as is the case for all of the wolfbois. Though he won't have his own personal adventure with Fynn for quite some time, he'll still be available throughout the story all the same!
Absolutely loving this VN, brilliant story so far. Great character development, interesting way they are all adapting to work together. you have given just enough background to make the characters come to life, without getting stale or boring. looking forward to the next chapters.
Also, will each route be progressing at the same time, or will one character be written for at a time?
Thanks for the feedback! I'm happy to hear that you (and others, as far as the reviews go) are enjoying the characters.
When the story is split into routes, or Diverged, every route is updated at the same time for public releases with about a chapter's worth of story between them all.
You're meant to play every character's route, so I'm trying my best to keep them all unique while following the same story!
Currently the routes are Converged, so the next story update will have much more story in a single route featuring all of the love interests.
i plan on playing each route eventually, but I tend to follow one route initially. it is easier for me to keep the story in straight ( hate taht word) fashion so to speak.
1) Protagonist has a personality for once and is esily the best highlight of the entire vn. I also really admire his desire to take on Wayfinder's mantle and settle all possible conflicts within the groups. Compared to other vn's where MC's usually just sit back and watch the love interest fighte for them this is a beath of fresh air.
2) So far his relatinship with companions is surprisingly mature and nuanced.
3) Love the resurgance of Norse Mythology in gaming lately
4) It's Nekojishi except leaps and bounds better in every way except the artsytle.
Speaking of
Dislike:
1) Art is kinda bad. Arkyn looks as ugly as original Sonic's design from the first Sonic movie. Lavan, you promised us redisign of the main trio around half a year ago. Where is it?
2) The fact that side characters are drawn in a new style only makes things worse since now two artstyles clash with each other.
3) Why do I need these plot irrelevant episodes about this Demien kid? I don't know anything about him, nor really care and he has absolutely nothing to do with the main plot. I can't stand when stories just jump from the one cahracter group to another, and the one that doesn't even has anything to do with each other at that, it breaks the pace of a story and creates a dissonance. If this kid will be plot relevant -- make his backstory cams ot of an organic character interaction between protagonist and his love interests, and if not -- just remove these entirely. On a side note human's empathy reserves aren't unlimited (my certainly don't) and we can't just attach ourselves to so many character at once. Please keep this in mind.
Also since you mentioned android I have feeling you didnβt understand my question so allow me to clarify: Im trying to launch the game via an itch.Io app (another word launcher) — a hub a k a Steam except except for itch io games, and itβs *definetely*not possible on android since this app does not exist for the platform.
No, I get it. The thing is I don't upload a separate version there, it just loads the same version from here. I just didn't know it was a computer only app ^///^ The download works on the browser fine, so I'm not sure what the problem would be on the app. Did you have a version installed already?
I de-installed the version so I can install the new one (the app still works incorrectly sometimes) and upon trying to install 1.7.1 it gives me 'cannpt read property of 'build' undefined'
So, I tried to upload directly through the itch.io butler and it's telling me the game is invalid. I'll keep trying to figure this out, but in the meantime the browser seems to be the only way to download for now. If I manage to get it to upload through the butler I'll reply here!
I think I figured it out- I forgot to check a box saying which build was for which platform underneath each version. It should be good to download now!
I'm liking the story so far. I played the first update and decided to give it some time to progress before judging it further, so now that I've come back to see how it's come along, I've prepared a few thoughts on the matter.
So far, it seems like the voice for the MC isn't established at all. Sometimes it seems like he has entirely realistic reactions, only to completely 180 in the same scene for no discernable reason. It feels like the character is contradictory to himself, and the pacing seems to be part of the issue. I saw in another comment that this is essentially just the first act of 20, but that means that the MC's reactions change so suddenly that it's off-putting and feels forced for the sake of story progression. That said, another comment assured a reason for his readiness to accept the existence of all these new revelations, though that doesn't explain why he simply trusts everything they say without demanding more answers, particularly from Skoll, who MC immediately agrees to help with no information about how, why, or who they are.
My second criticism: it feels like the MC treats the Wolf Giants like they're pets rather than people sometimes, with all the scratching and intimate gestures that you would never do to a stranger let alone someone who followed you and entered home in secret and uninvited like Arkyn. Other times, MC acts like they're lovers already despite knowing little about them and for less than a week. Though, as I'm writing, I also realize the three treat the MC just as familiarly, which is just as concerning. They all get way too close way too fast under their circumstances. I'm suddenly wondering if this is tied as well to the reason the MC is so accepting of everything, though if that's the case, it doesn't exactly feel like it is. I feel that, based on what information is available at the time, a moment to acknowledge or question how abnormally intimate they are might be beneficial. And if any of this is simply due to a difference in cultures between mine and yours (whichever it may be), I apologize for being presumptuous and ignorant.
Lastly, the abilities of a Finder seem like an interesting an important piece of lore and integral to the story on paper, but the execution feels more like it's a macguffin -- a magical excuse to advance the story. Ever since it was introduced, it felt like the MC lost all autonomy in his life. It felt less like the MC was pushing the story forward, and more like the story was dragging the MC along. Having an ability that acts as a guide for the character is a tricky thing for this reason - the ability starts to feel more important than the character himself.
Keep in mind these are my personal thoughts on the matter, and I don't fully know what you have in store that might make me change my view on the matter. I hate to think this might be discouraging for you to hear, but I'd rather voice these concerns early and be assured that things are either well in hand or being addressed as you feel necessary than to let things go unspoken until it's too late to do anything.
That said, I'd rather not leave a comment full of just negativity, so I'd like to move on to the positives that I've noticed. For one, you did well at making the wolves feel like real people, the complexity certainly caught me off guard. It's a breath of fresh air among more one-note characters in some of the VNs I've been trying lately. The way they speak feels familiarly modern, while still feeling just off enough to remind you that they're not from Midgard.
Additionally, I found myself entertained with how you'd set up scenes to appear one way, only to turn them on their head at the peak, using common tropes and omitting specific information to create a scene that changes tone with a single word.
Finally, it's easy to tell how much you've put into this VN. The lore and its consistency, the near complete lack of spelling/grammar mistakes, the projected scope; it all comes together to show your dedication to making Wayfinder as perfect as you can, which in turn makes me excited to see what's in store for the future.
I sincerely enjoyed my time reading your VN, and I can't wait to find out where this story leads and what your plans are. I wish you all the luck in this endeavor.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such detailed critique and thank you for the praise as well! I want to answer this, but I was wondering if you were okay with me using your comment in a dev log that I can post within the next day?
There is so much here that I'd like to dig into (in a good way lest you worry) and I feel like a reply to the comment here won't necessarily do it justice.
Oh, absolutely! If it helps you, I'm perfectly happy to let you do that! I'll admit, I spent a good few hours going over what I'd written and replaying the game to see if any of my criticisms changed, so it's nice to hear my effort is appreciated. Looking forward to seeing what comes next, and excited for the future of the VN!
Hello! So I don't typically upload these to the itch.io app, it's usually just to the website itself. I'm not sure what the difference is but they are .zip files here and I don't really have any way of checking whether the app is different, I just build the files the way Ren'py usually does. I can try to upload the Mac version to the app when I wake up but I don't know if there's anything specific I need to do on there. I'll reply again after I've done so that way you know when to try again!
I can check- it shouldn't have skipped over him greeting Fynn at his door so if you didn't see that, I might have set the label for that scene later than intended. I'll look and reupload if that's the case.
Hello! Replying to update, I've reuploaded with a fix! If you can, restart from the beginning of the chapter to be safe. Thanks again for the heads up!
The MC of this VN is a human, in a modern world akin to our own where things like magic and fae and beings like werewolves and the wolf giants (which the main love interests happen to be) are shrouded from humanity behind a 'veil'. It's not too much like some FVNs on itch, because I'm writing it more like a modern fantasy story.
First of all I agree with everyone else, it is a crime that this VN is not getting more attention then it should and I can't wait for more! Will consider becoming a Patreon! Also I would love to know what % of the VN is at, ATM In V1.6?
Hello! Thanks for the feedback :D You're in my discord server, so I already answered you directly on this but I'm going to respond to your comment here for anyone else who might be wondering as well!
So, I'll answer this in as much detail as I can without trying to spoil anything not already in the public build, but for those who haven't read through to the end of the public build pleaseproceed with caution: This story (by which I mean Wayfinder) is currently about 8-10% completed as of v1.7a (which is on Patreon for $5 patrons right now, v1.6 will be available publicly on the 11th.) It's still in the world-building and set-up part of the story. Before the story roughly 30% complete, all of the main players in the show will be introduced to the stage, so to say. The middle few acts of the story will be sort of an interstitial period of character growth and interaction, and the final third acts will contain the overarching climax of the story and its denouement.
v1.5 SPOILERS BEGIN HERE:
However, here's where Wayfinder gets a bit complex: It's actually two stories in one VN.
You might remember the opening scene and the 'Interlude' that plays out at the end of the public build. These scenes are written to seem like flashbacks of Fynn (MC), but they're actually events unfolding with another character- Damien (as revealed at the end of the interlude). Damien's story begins here in Wayfinder and will be placed in between some chapters going forward. How it relates to and is affected by Fynn's story (and vice-versa) I'll leave a mystery, but before the midway point of the story I'm sure it will start to become more apparent.
Further than that, this VN is just the first I have planned- I have at least two other full visual novels planned afterward, all in the same contained universe. If you include the bonus chapters that I'm adding in for Patrons every so often (which will end up either in the final release of Wayfinder or as their own standalone thing) and any side stories (of which I have also planned quite a few), there's a lot to come! So overall, this is only 1% of my power! We're maybe 1% into the entire plot overall! Please tell me that doesn't seem daunting >///<
Interesting premises, while I feel the sprite style may be a bit off, I think it also for that reason fits well with the tallness feeling of calling them Giants, thus defeating my own argument.
Their personalities however do seem to fit for more modern times, human times, and generally seem lackluster in the pursuit of who its the best candidate. This however must be what the trail is for, for that which we shall FIND.
I am curious though what hey look like to normal people. They also do shed right?
Actually, I'm going to be working with my new artist Tehngo to rework the sprites eventually!
If you want to see a rough idea of what they'll look like, I have a devlog with an image here on the Wayfinder page!
I wanted their personalities to be more realistic than jump too far in one direction, so for example Biorn is a bit anxious and knowledgable but can be very direct and confident when he's in the zone- some of these things will only be revealed when following their story routes!
As far as their appearance to other non-finders, they look like humans. I might find a way to include it in the VN, but as an example Geirolf looks a bit like the singer Yohio.
Just got finished reading your VN and I'm super hyped for what's to come next. For a first act you've done a great job at setting up plot hooks and character goals.
Hope you're having a good time writing this and looking forward to the rest of the story!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you're enjoying Wayfinder. There're a lot of twists and turns to come! I am absolutely having fun making this VN, and every time someone tells me they've enjoyed it, my efforts (and those of my artists) pay off! ^_^
If you don't mind, which character did you pick (and if you did all three of them, which did you enjoy most?
Ahah I'm glad to hear it my dude, the twist-ier the better!
In the end I picked all of them because I would hate to miss out on good content (and cause its always fun to learn more about a character) but my fave would probably have to be Arkyn so far. Being goofy caring and playful is a pretty good combo for me.
It's seriously a CRIME that this VN isn't more popular. I've really loved the story so far and cannot wait to read more. It genuinely feels like I'm reading a modern fairy tale, which makes sense as this seems to be inspired by Norse mythology.
The pacing is the only real issue I can find at the moment. The story is moving just a tad too fast, though if my guess that everything we've seen so far is an introduction, it would be understandable.
Those are my thoughts so far! Keep up the good work!
Currently what is available on itch.io (and the part still on Patreon) makes up the first act of the story, of about twenty or so planned acts.
This means the story is roughly 5% finished! You're right in that this is all an introduction so far, the first few acts are planned to introduce the "laws" of magic and the worlds themselves, as well as each character central to the overall plot.
I haven't added much extra to Wayfinder outside the main plot elements just cause I want to get into the grit of the story, but I have a $3 and $5 Patron exclusive extra download that updates (mostly) monthly, with the parts of the story that aren't from Fynn's PoV which I will be adding in the the full VN when I finish development as a sort of 'director's cut' thing.
As for the influences, yes a thousand times for Norse mythology! :D
It's one of my favorites and while a lot of media that is inspired by it tends to end up being a bit derivative, I'm hoping to take it in an interesting direction. I hope you'll keep a lookout for other mythologies mixed in as well, but expect a lot more Norse!
It's interesting you mention it feeling like a modern fairy tale, cause one of the inspirations of my writing are the Modern Tale of Faerie series by Holly Black (Tithe, Valiant, Ironside). Huge recommendation!
Thanks for enjoying Wayfinder and for the feedback as well! It helps a lot!
Thank you for all the insights into the project! It's always very interesting to hear details like that from the dev side of things!
The worldbuilding this far has been consistent and interesting, so I'd say you did a great job introducing everything relevant up until this point. The extra Patreon bonus scenes that aren't from the MC's POV sound very interesting so I might have to check that out sometime soon.
I'm a bit of a mythology buff so I'm excited to see which of them you include in this story! I also agree that a lot of works based on Norse myths tend to be derivative so I really want to see what you will end up doing differently!
Finally, thank you for the book recommendation! I'll probably try reading them whenever I have the time!
I love the artwork and concept and enjoyed it so far so I don't want what I'm going to say to be taken the wrong way.
I found the story a little difficult to read and stay grounded/immersed in as the characters act and talk rather unrealistically. No matter how fantastical you make your story you MUST always have small amount of realism to help ground the reader in the story.
The MC is the best example because this is an individual who (I presume) never even considered magic or anthropomorphs to be real but despite this reality being shattered he just immediately accepts it without question, argument or questioning whether or not he is going crazy and seeing things.
Anyway those are just my thoughts, hope they help in some way. Keep up the good work
It does help actually, I was wondering how some things I was laying foundation for were working out.
My honest answer for this is that while I can't get into the why of Fynn (MC) dropping most of his hesitancy to accept what is happening almost immediately without going into spoilers, there's a reason but it's coming later on and is related to his entire journey as a character in a sense.
Fynn isn't entirely a reliable narrator, and there are instances of him 'lying by omission' already that have or will come up.
I have put hints in for it as well. I can understand it's sort of jarring though so maybe when I work through the sprite changes with my new artist I will go through and work on adding more things in.
One of the reasons has to do with the MC's past that come into play in the chapter currently only available to Patrons, which will be going public in a few weeks' time!
I will try to look at and adjust some of the dialogue to sound more natural as well, whenever I get the time.
I'm putting a spoilery thing at the bottom, so otherwise thank you for reading and I hope you'll keep checking out Wayfinder!
A bit spoilerey next, so be warned.
As far as the other characters, I will also say they're sort of all putting on a facade of sorts for Fynn (except Tucker, but I have plans for him too) and in Act 2 that veil is going to start to drop.
Some people have ulterior motives and some are just kind.

HOLY SHIT I MISSED THE UPDATE GOTTA PLAY
Apart from that, really good work so far! <3
Be safe~
Lavan
i have no idea whats going on but its cute
Do i have to start over? I just updated the game and my save files keep popping up a error? I really don't want to start sll over again, i understand theres new sprites and i might have to but is there any possibility of not restarting? Getting to the to be continued and updating just to restart seems annoying but if i need to then i dont mind! Love your game regardless
Hey, if you're saving on the To Be Continued, it's likely why this crash is happening. That screen is removed when the updates release. As long as your saves have been from the new version (starting with 1.9.1) all along they should still work, just save on a text box or two before the TBC. Meanwhile, you can also try the chapter select and see if it lets you select the current day, and skip (should skip read text) til end of day!
thank you so much!
Love this vn. Such cozy vibes
Hello!
Yes, as soon as the next CG is finished and I get time to add it in :3
I will be out of the state for next week so it will come (hopefully) just after that!
which is the nsfw version?
From what I know the nsfw version won't be out until this one has more complete
I like some changes in the interactions between the mc and the Wolves. I also like the story that we didn't get to know before this update. And MAN Arkyn looks perfect.
i still have the og wayfinder downloaded i think the new sprites are really cool. And the new parts are cool too!
Hey!

Hey! Thanks for the feedback and praise ^///^
Fortunately, Wayfinder is not like the other girls, you're never locked in to a choice for your wolfboi!
Show post...
the first week
Wait I thought this was gonna be a continuation of the story so it's just changes to the 1st 3 days of the story?
Hello!

Lavan
Don't worry when I saw that I had no save files I knew something was up. So I've read from the start.
Hi Lavan, any word on the new update? :D
Man, sad to see the old sprites gone after leaving the VN to get new content for awhile before playing again. The other 3 are all nice, but I'm not a fan of how comically large Biorn is now, used to love him being a tall built guy but now he's a little...*too* bara.
You haven't seen the last of the old sprites! I have something fun planned for them :3
If Arkyn is six and a half feet tall, would that make Biorn seven feet tall?
Hello!
Arkyn is six-foot-five, and Biorn is seven feet, four inches!
If you look at the post "A Year of Wayfinder!", there are some other bits of info I sgared about the wolfbois ^///^
Be safe~
Lavan
Biorn's brother is probably around eight feet since he towers over him.
Yup!
Unfortunately because of scale the screen can't always show their full sizes...
!!!But!!!!
Here they all are! Keep in mind Bjame is standing with his legs apart and not his full height! (If I make him higher in game he'd clip out the screen)
Be safe~
Lavan
Maybe eventually if you are able to make CGs of the characters, that can help give people a good idea of how large the characters are. I really like Biorn's brother flirty personality.
I do have a CG planned for the end of Act 2 with a good number of them in it, so we'll see :3

So first things first, I can not state how much this Vn was enjoyable to read. The main protagonist is well-written and has a catchy identity. For now, the three love interests we can interact with are interesting, each has a level of depth I wasn't expecting.
For me the Pro's are
The only Con for me is:
Over all this is a great Visual Novel with a lot going for it. However, that being said it does feel like it's almost been abandoned. I do hope that the people working on this know what is there is amazing. Just wish there was more communication about the status of the project. With all this being said, I would highly recommend a read-through of the public version (1.8.2).
Hello!
Thanks for the feedback!
I hope you continue to enjoy Wayfinder!

Is everything ok you said you would update it a month after 1.8.2 in the first week but the first week is about to end and you said that specifically about the public build.
where do i download the nsfw version
There's currently no actual NSFW in game, when there is I will be making a separate version!
Hi it's Alv, old artist of Wayfinder here!
First of all, thank you so much.
Wishing you all a great time onwards.
Much love,
Alv
I actually like the old sprites. They were all so handsome and fluffy.
Thank you for the appreciation! Means a lot. Hope you're having a great day π
Enjoy this vn so far, the story is intriguing so I'm excited to see how it continues... also Arkyn best boyo imo
Hello!
Be safe~
Lavan
At the risk of sounding like a hater, you should update your Visual novel regularly before adding a 4th route. Because with 3 characters, the updates were slow in coming, so with an extra guy...oof
Hello! I appreciate the concern~
I hope you continue to enjoy Wayfinder!
Be safe~
Lavan
Absolutely loving this VN, brilliant story so far. Great character development, interesting way they are all adapting to work together. you have given just enough background to make the characters come to life, without getting stale or boring. looking forward to the next chapters.
Also, will each route be progressing at the same time, or will one character be written for at a time?
Hello~
Thanks for the feedback! I'm happy to hear that you (and others, as far as the reviews go) are enjoying the characters.
When the story is split into routes, or Diverged, every route is updated at the same time for public releases with about a chapter's worth of story between them all.
You're meant to play every character's route, so I'm trying my best to keep them all unique while following the same story!
Currently the routes are Converged, so the next story update will have much more story in a single route featuring all of the love interests.
Hope you continue to enjoy Wayfinder!
Be safe~
Lavan
i plan on playing each route eventually, but I tend to follow one route initially. it is easier for me to keep the story in straight ( hate taht word) fashion so to speak.
Oooh, now I'm curious which wolfboi you started with!
I will give you a hint, it i snot Bjorn, and not Arkyn :P
( and just happens to be the most darling one of the lot)
well, they are all adorable, but Geirolf is my favorite
you can't believed how much i needed a norse VN.
Is this update still scheduled to be released today?
Hello! Yeah, I'm releasing it in about an hour or so. Stay tuned!
I know it's cutting it close, but I just got finished sprites for a character so I'm plugging them in.
Ok I'll stay up to read it.
Early impressions:
Like:
Please keep this in mind.
so when will be next ubdate
Hello, check out the Wayfinder page! It's just about always listed there.
Can't install new build via itch.io app, it gives me an error. Fix plz
Hello!
Which version are you trying to install?
Is it Mac, Android, Windows or Linux?
Thanks~
Lavan
windows
Also since you mentioned android I have feeling you didnβt understand my question so allow me to clarify: Im trying to launch the game via an itch.Io app (another word launcher) — a hub a k a Steam except except for itch io games, and itβs *definetely*not possible on android since this app does not exist for the platform.
No, I get it. The thing is I don't upload a separate version there, it just loads the same version from here. I just didn't know it was a computer only app ^///^
The download works on the browser fine, so I'm not sure what the problem would be on the app.
I don't know if it's intentional or not, but I like how the choices are oriented GBR instead of RBG.
Hello!

Lavan
Oh, absolutely! If it helps you, I'm perfectly happy to let you do that! I'll admit, I spent a good few hours going over what I'd written and replaying the game to see if any of my criticisms changed, so it's nice to hear my effort is appreciated. Looking forward to seeing what comes next, and excited for the future of the VN!
I've posted the devlog! ^///^
when trying to download on mac via itch app the following occurs. I don't believe you actually pushed the mac version to the app :(

Thank you!
Is part of Geirolf's story missing? It just jumps from walking down the street alone to with him in his apartment.
I can check- it shouldn't have skipped over him greeting Fynn at his door so if you didn't see that, I might have set the label for that scene later than intended. I'll look and reupload if that's the case.
Thanks for letting me know!

Thanks, it's working fine now!
thinken ab readin but a quick question, what species is the mc ??
Hello!
If you try it, I hope you enjoy!

First of all I agree with everyone else, it is a crime that this VN is not getting more attention then it should and I can't wait for more! Will consider becoming a Patreon! Also I would love to know what % of the VN is at, ATM In V1.6?
Hello! Thanks for the feedback :D
You're in my discord server, so I already answered you directly on this but I'm going to respond to your comment here for anyone else who might be wondering as well!
So, I'll answer this in as much detail as I can without trying to spoil anything not already in the public build, but for those who haven't read through to the end of the public build please proceed with caution:
This story (by which I mean Wayfinder) is currently about 8-10% completed as of v1.7a (which is on Patreon for $5 patrons right now, v1.6 will be available publicly on the 11th.)
It's still in the world-building and set-up part of the story.
However, here's where Wayfinder gets a bit complex:
It's actually two stories in one VN.
I hope you'll continue to enjoy Wayfinder!
Be safe~

Interesting premises, while I feel the sprite style may be a bit off, I think it also for that reason fits well with the tallness feeling of calling them Giants, thus defeating my own argument.
Their personalities however do seem to fit for more modern times, human times, and generally seem lackluster in the pursuit of who its the best candidate. This however must be what the trail is for, for that which we shall FIND.
I am curious though what hey look like to normal people. They also do shed right?
Hey, thanks for the feedback <3
I hope you continue to enjoy Wayfinder!
Just got finished reading your VN and I'm super hyped for what's to come next. For a first act you've done a great job at setting up plot hooks and character goals.
Hope you're having a good time writing this and looking forward to the rest of the story!
Hello!
Be safe~
Lavan
Ahah I'm glad to hear it my dude, the twist-ier the better!
In the end I picked all of them because I would hate to miss out on good content (and cause its always fun to learn more about a character) but my fave would probably have to be Arkyn so far. Being goofy caring and playful is a pretty good combo for me.
Anyway, good luck with plot stuff man :))
Thanks for indulging me! It's always good to know what readers like about the wolfboi they picked.
I hope you'll continue to enjoy Wayfinder!

Hello! Long-winded reply incoming~

Lavan
Keep up the good work
Hey, thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the perspective, it definitely helped and I look forward to the next update
im really hooked on the story, looking forward where the story goes
Hey, thanks for reading and I'm excited to give readers more of the story! ^///^
Be safe~
